Position Overview:Atlanta United FC is seeking a Seasonal Athletic Training Assistant to support the Club’s Medical and Performance Department. This role will assist in the delivery of comprehensive sports medicine services to players competing in MLS and MLS NEXT Pro, operating within an integrated high-performance model.
The position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and works collaboratively with athletic trainers, strength & conditioning staff, performance coaches, and team physicians to support player health, availability, and return-to-play processes.
Core Responsibilities:Medical & Performance Support:Assist in daily athletic training room operations for MLS and MLS NEXT Pro players.
Support injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation programmingunder the direction of licensed athletic trainers.
Execute taping, bracing, soft tissue techniques, and therapeutic modalityapplications consistent with league and club protocols.
Assist with implementation of individualized return-to-play and load managementplans.
Training & Match Coverage:Provide medical coverage for the first team training sessions and matches.
Assist with pre-training preparation, on-field coverage, and post-session recoveryprotocols.
Participate in select MLS NEXT Pro trainings and/or matches as assigned.
Hydration & equipment preparation.
Operations & Compliance:Maintain accurate daily medical documentation in accordance with MLS and MLSNEXT Pro standards.
Ensure treatment areas and rehabilitation spaces meet professional leaguemedical requirements.
Assist with inventory management of medical supplies and equipment.
Support league-mandated medical protocols and emergency action plans.
Academy Integration:Provide support to Academy teams when needed, maintaining alignment with theClub’s overall sports medicine philosophy and methodology.
Qualifications:BOC certification (or certification eligible) required.
Eligible for and able to maintain Georgia state licensureCPR/AED certification required.
Strong understanding of professional soccer performance demands andperiodization principles preferred.
Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and matchdaysin alignment with MLS and MLS NEXT Pro schedules.
Preferred Experience:Previous experience in collegiate, professional, or elite youth soccer.
Familiarity with integrated performance models in professional sport.
Strong communication skills and ability to operate within a multidisciplinary high performance staff.
