SummaryThe Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will work as part of the Sport Performance Team at the Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, under the direction of the Assistant High-Performance Director-Sport Performance, by assisting in the everyday operations of the strength and conditioning space.
Responsibilities:Strength & ConditioningProvide top-level performance services to assist athletes training at USA Boxing at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs Assist in the implementation and supervision of strength, speed, and conditioning programs of elite athletes training at the CSOPTC.
Assist and lead when necessary, in conducting performance testing and monitoring of athletes that may include collection, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Work with the USA Boxing Sport Performance Staff in providing coverage for athletes while staff is traveling. Develop and maintain a solid understanding of the Assistant HP Director’s programming style and expectations for implementation. Report back to the Assistant HP Director on sessions and have the trust to adjust as needed.
Provide athlete-specific training plans for assigned athletes and teams.
Teach, instruct, and spot athletes effectively on proper strength training and Olympic weightlifting technique.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with USOPC Sports Performance staff and athletes. Assist in grant planning and requests. Assist in research and implementation of new sport technology. Lead junior, youth, and elite national teams as required.
Assist with elite national teams.
Attend roundtables for continued professional developments withing USA boxing and USOPC Performance staff.
Assist with competition day warmups for junior, youth, and elite teams.
Assist national team sport dietitian with nutrition education for youth and junior teams under National Team Dietitian direction and guidance.
Assist with all Athlete Monitoring Systems projects with analysis, reporting, and compliance for team, including but not limited to: Athlete profilesHawkin DashboardPerch DashboardPolar DashboardAthlete Wellness SurveyReport weekly sports performance findings to Assistant HP Director-Sport Performance and key stakeholders.
Meet weekly with Assistant HP Director-Sport Performance and provide weekly report at the conclusion of each work week in a timely manner. Collaborate with all members of High Performance Staff for elite level support to USA Boxing.
Provide educational material for coaching education, USA Boxing membership, and grassroots programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Facility OperationsMonitor and supervise the USA Boxing facility, including opening and closing duties as required.
Ensure the disinfecting and cleanliness of the training areas and equipment of the strength and conditioning facility at the CSOPTC, according to USOPC standards.
Assist with and lead the training of elite, youth and junior national teams.
Maintain accurate record keeping for athletes.
Maintain daily upkeep of facility and equipment.
Manage the USA Boxing Space when the Assistant HP Director is traveling.
Ensure all equipment is in good and safe working order as needed (daily, weekly, monthly, etc)Ensure training space is prepped for team use prior to team training (weight room, field space, High Altitude Training Center, etc.)
QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in exercise science or equivalent experienceCurrent Master’s Degree in exercise science or related field preferred Licensure & CertificationOne of the nationally recognized certifications in strength & conditioning:Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association: Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)National Strength & Conditioning Association: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)Current CPR/AED/First Aid CertificationExperienceMinimum of 2 years of full-time strength and conditioning experience Experience working with collegiate or professional athletes Experience in performance testingExperience in periodization, programming, and coaching Skills and Competencies RequiredAbility to effectively teach and demonstrate proper exercise technique involved in a strength and conditioning programExceptional organizational skillsExceptional written and verbal communication skills to work closely with athletes, coaches, and other staffHave the ability to motivate and clearly communicate the plans designed for each athleteMust be able to lift 100 poundsMicrosoft ApplicationsProlonged standing and physical activityEarly morning, late evening, and weekend hours as neededRegular attendance at work is an essential job function Work Location Colorado Springs, Colorado at Olympic and Paralympic Training Center Travel will be required for this position both domestically and internationally, for several weeks at a time Position Type: Non-Exempt, Regular, Full-timeReports to: Assistant High Performance Director – Sport PerformanceSupervisory Role: N/AStarting Date: January 2026Compensation: $23.00/hourWorking conditions: Significant overtime is likely required during and leading up to major events; Non-traditional work hours depending on high performance schedule; Travel is required several times a year; some trips could be 4-6 weeks.
