ABOUT THE ROLEThe Housekeeping Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day housekeeping and custodial operations at Subaru Park, ensuring the stadium and surrounding facilities consistently meet Philadelphia Union standards for cleanliness, safety, presentation, and guest experience. This position provides hands-on leadership to the housekeeping team and is responsible for coordinating daily, event-day, and post-event cleaning operations. The Superintendent oversees staffing and deployment, employee training and performance, quality inspections, supplies and equipment, labor management, safety compliance, and administrative functions for the department. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining a first-class facility and can effectively lead a diverse workforce in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. This position requires significant flexibility, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours surrounding Philadelphia Union matches and other events hosted at Subaru Park. RESPONSIBILITIESHousekeeping & Facility OperationsOversee daily housekeeping and custodial operations throughout Subaru Park, ensuring the facility is consistently clean, safe, sanitary, and event-ready. Manage the cleanliness and presentation of restrooms, concourses, suites and premium areas, offices, locker rooms, event spaces, stairwells, elevators, loading areas, storage areas, exterior entrances, and other assigned spaces. Coordinate pre-event, event-day, post-event, and non-event-day housekeeping activities. Conduct regular facility walk-throughs and inspections to ensure established cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are achieved. Identify deficiencies and ensure issues are corrected promptly. Coordinate housekeeping needs associated with event setups, breakdowns, changeovers, and special events. Oversee waste removal and recycling operations and support organizational sustainability initiatives. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of housekeeping supplies, chemicals, equipment, and other departmental materials. Ensure housekeeping storage areas, supply rooms, and equipment areas remain clean, organized, and secure. Staff Leadership & SchedulingProvide direct supervision and day-to-day leadership to full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, and event-day housekeeping employees. Prepare staff deployment plans and assign employees to specific areas and responsibilities. Lead staff check-in, assignment, and deployment processes for event-day and post-event operations. Monitor employee attendance, productivity, work quality, and adherence to departmental expectations. Lead by example and provide hands-on assistance to the housekeeping team when operational needs require. Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, event information, safety expectations, and organizational updates. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and exceptional service. Training & Employee ManagementTrain new and existing employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, chemical handling, safety protocols, guest service expectations, and departmental standards. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to housekeeping employees. Address employee performance and conduct concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with People & Culture. Participate in performance evaluations, corrective action, and other employee-relations processes as appropriate. Identify staffing needs and communicate hiring or scheduling concerns to leadership. Quality AssuranceEstablish and maintain consistent cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the stadium. Conduct routine inspections before, during, and following events. Ensure restrooms and guest-facing areas remain clean, sanitary, properly stocked, and presentable throughout events. Document and communicate facility maintenance concerns, equipment issues, safety hazards, and other deficiencies requiring attention. Coordinate with Stadium Operations, Engineering, Security, Guest Services, and other departments to resolve facility issues. Maintain inspection records and other quality-control documentation as required. Equipment, Supplies & SafetyEnsure employees are properly trained in the safe operation of commercial housekeeping equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, wet vacuums, carpet extractors, vacuums, and related equipment. Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored, labeled, handled, and used in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manufacturer guidelines, and Company procedures. Promote compliance with OSHA requirements and established workplace safety practices. Regularly inspect housekeeping equipment and coordinate maintenance or replacement as necessary. Monitor supply usage and maintain appropriate inventory while controlling unnecessary waste and expense. Immediately address or report unsafe conditions, facility hazards, and equipment concerns. Budget & Administrative ResponsibilitiesAssist with the development and management of the housekeeping operating budget. Monitor labor hours, overtime, supplies, equipment, contracted services, and other departmental expenses. Manage staffing and resources efficiently while maintaining established cleanliness and service standards. Maintain accurate departmental records, including employee schedules, attendance records, payroll information, inspection reports, equipment assignments, supply inventories, training records, and safety documentation. Prepare reports regarding staffing, labor utilization, facility conditions, supply needs, and departmental performance as requested. Monitor vendor performance and ensure contracted services meet established standards and expectations. Event OperationsDevelop and execute housekeeping plans for Philadelphia Union matches and other events hosted at Subaru Park. Ensure appropriate staffing and deployment before, during, and following events. Maintain frequent communication with Stadium Operations and other event leadership regarding housekeeping priorities and emerging needs. Monitor high-traffic areas throughout events and reallocate staff as necessary. Coordinate post-event cleaning operations to ensure the facility is restored efficiently and prepared for the next scheduled activity. Serve as a visible and responsive housekeeping leader during matches and events. Support stadium operations and special projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in facilities management, hospitality, operations, or a related discipline preferred. Minimum of 3 years of housekeeping, custodial, environmental services, facilities, hospitality, or related operations experience, preferably within a stadium, arena, convention center, hotel, entertainment venue, or other large commercial facility. Previous supervisory experience with responsibility for scheduling, training, work assignments, and employee performance required. Experience supervising a combination of full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, and/or event-based employees strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, chemicals, and industry best practices. Working knowledge of workplace safety standards, OSHA requirements, SDS procedures, and safe chemical handling. Experience managing labor, supplies, operating expenses, and departmental budgets preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and facility presentation. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with employees, managers, vendors, contractors, and other departments. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus. Previous experience working in professional sports or a large-scale sports and entertainment venue is strongly preferred. Work ScheduleThis position requires a flexible schedule based on the Philadelphia Union match and event calendar. The Housekeeping Superintendent must be available to work days, evenings, overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as operational needs require. Regular attendance at Philadelphia Union home matches and other major events at Subaru Park is an essential function of the position. Physical RequirementsAbility to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the stadium and surrounding property. Ability to regularly navigate stairs and access all areas of the facility. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical activities associated with housekeeping operations. Ability to safely operate commercial housekeeping equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly, with heavier items moved with appropriate assistance or equipment. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
