Director of BaseballJob DescriptionReports to: Executive Director & Camp DirectorAcademy Camps is an overnight sports-specific sleepaway camp experience that takes place on the campus of Suffield Academy (CT). experience. We offer 1-week sessions for Boys & Girls aged 10 - 15 interested in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis & volleyball. Our campers choose one of our 8 "Academy Sports" and receive 2 intensive training sessions per day with our high-performance coaching staff. We are a dedicated team of high performance coaches, nurturing & exemplary counselors, and experienced camp professionals, passionate about the 'whole athlete'. Outside of sports specific training sessions, AC is distinguished in delivering programming focused on its pillars of Performance, Wellness, Mindset, and Leadership mixed in with a healthy dose of fun through a daily schedule of traditional sleepaway camp activities. The positionOur Director of Baseball is a member of our senior-level staff. responsibilities, regular feedback, and end-of-session staff evaluationsMaintain the equipment and facilities to ensure safe playing conditionsAfter each training session, ensure the area is clean and the equipment is returned to storageParticipate as a member of the camp team to deliver and supervise electives, evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions, as neededActively participate in all staff training & meetingsManage and coordinate any inter-league or inter-camp competitionsOption to increase compensation through Camper Referral Program:Earn referral bonuses by driving the camper recruiting process by identifying and recruiting prospective athletesYour Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities6+ years experience coaching, required, and with certifications, preferredProven track record of program development and managementA holistic approach to coaching - willingness and desire to develop the whole athlete physically, mentally and emotionallyAn excellent relationship builder - quick to connect, build trust, and rapportA goal-oriented coach - motivated to support our athletes in achieving their goalsA creative problem-solver - the ability to identify issues and implement solutions that ensure ongoing athlete developmentA growth mindset - an orientation towards learning and development; willing to receive and implement feedback and learn from mistakesExpectations, Compensation, and BenefitsAvailable and on-site for the dates of the full summer session including staff pre-season training and post-camp: June 20 - August 8Room and board included on-site at Suffield Academy, our flagship campus with access to state-of-the-art athletic facilities, providing a seamless and immersive coaching experience. The AC compensation package is competitive and is commensurate with skills and experience. Compensation for a full summer commitment is $7,000 - $12,000 (includes room and board). Travel stipend provided to support relocation. Option to increase compensation through Camper Referral Program: Earn $250 referral bonus for each camper enrolled.
