Job Description
Full-Time, Exempt | Reports to: Director, Broadcast, AV & Media | East Rutherford, NJABOUT USMetLife Stadium is one of only two venues in the country that hosts two NFL franchises under one roof, and one of a handful of stadiums in the world built to run at that scale year-round: NFL Sundays, marquee concerts, WrestleMania, international soccer, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. Running broadcast operations here means engineering at the intersection of two network broadcast trucks, in-house production, and some of the largest LED and audio systems in live entertainment, often in the same week.
In the near future, we'll be undertaking a multi-year, multi-million dollar stadium modernization moving our broadcast infrastructure to SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based workflows, one of the largest technology transitions the venue has planned. This is a rare chance to help lead a stadium-scale IP migration from the ground up.
We are looking for a Chief Broadcast Engineer who has already done this at scale, at an NFL or major-market stadium, a large arena, a network O&O, or a comparable big-venue broadcast facility, and wants to work at one of the most demanding, highest-visibility buildings in the industry.
WHY THIS ROLE• Work two NFL tenants' game-day broadcasts plus 40+ non-NFL events a year, a breadth of live production reps most venues can't offer.• Hands-on with a top-tier, constantly refreshed tech stack (see below) rather than legacy single-purpose gear.• A high-visibility technical leadership seat, with hands-on exposure to new manufacturer technology as it's evaluated for the venue.• A proving ground for the biggest events in the calendar: Super Bowls, World Cup matches, WrestleMania, and stadium tours.• A leading technical role in our upcoming SMPTE ST 2110 stadium modernization, a career-defining, ground-up IP infrastructure build most engineers only get to do once.
WHAT YOU'LL DO• Provide a high level of service to both NFL tenants while maintaining absolute neutrality on team matters and protecting the confidentiality of each team's information.
requirements.• Own uptime for FOH, BOH, video replay room, and audio control suite systems during live events, diagnosing and resolving issues in real time with zero tolerance for broadcast interruption.• Partner with the Director, Broadcast, AV & Media on systems engineering, equipment lifecycle planning, and event-driven infrastructure changes.• Supervise contracted Broadcast Engineers and A/V crew on event day, escalating equipment issues to the Director, Broadcast, AV & Media for vendor and warranty coordination.• Maintain equipment, materials, and departmental records to support the Director's budget and planning process.• Maintain stadium system documentation and CAD drawings used for troubleshooting, freelancer onboarding, and future upgrades.• Bring forward emerging broadcast technology recommendations; you're expected to know what's next, not just what's installed.• Lead technical evaluation and standards recommendations for the stadium's upcoming SMPTE ST 2110 modernization, partnering with the Director, Broadcast, AV & Media on final vendor selection and budget decisions.

Preferred:• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast, Communications, or a related field.
Experience with SMPTE ST 2110 or other IP-based broadcast infrastructure (PTP timing, IP multicast networking, SDI-to-IP migration) strongly preferred given our upcoming modernization plans.
SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENTThis role runs on the stadium's event calendar, not a standard week, including nights, weekends, and holidays when games and events are scheduled. Noise levels are moderate day-to-day and elevated during live events.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position requires the ability to perform the essential functions below in a stadium environment, with or without reasonable accommodation:• Regular movement throughout the stadium, including control rooms, concourses, dock areas, and field-level locations.• Frequent use of stairs and ladders to reach control rooms, catwalks, camera positions, and broadcast infrastructure; elevators may not always be usable during live events.• Extended standing and walking, particularly during live events, setup, and breakdown.• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of broadcast and A/V equipment up to approximately 50 lbs.• Fine hand manipulation to operate broadcast equipment, wiring, and control systems.• Work at elevated positions such as catwalks, platforms, and camera wells.• Exposure to indoor and outdoor stadium conditions, including varying weather, and elevated noise levels during live events.
Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
