Internship Overview: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are offering an opportunity for current college students to gain real-world sports merchandise, retail, and e-commerce operations experience while playing a hands-on role in managing both the ballpark team store and the Battle Jacks online shop.

About the Battle Creek Battle Jacks: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are a proud member of the Northwoods League, the premier collegiate summer baseball league in North America. Based in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Battle Jacks operate like a professional minor league organization while maintaining a culture centered on teamwork, accountability, creativity, and community connection.
Our interns are essential members of our summer family. Merchandise interns play a key role in representing the Battle Jacks brand, managing retail operations, and helping fans proudly wear and support the team both at MCCU Field and online.
The Northwoods League features elite college players from across North America and operates at a professional level, using wooden bats, minor league-spec baseballs, overnight travel, and nightly games in front of thousands of fans.
Internship DatesStart Date: On or around mid-May 2026End Date: On or around mid-August 2026Academic QualificationsDeclared major or minor in Sport Management, Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or a related fieldOther majors will be consideredDescription of ResponsibilitiesPre-Season ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with merchandise leadership on product orders and merchandise design conceptsAssist with inventory receiving, organization, and tracking for both in-stadium and online merchandiseSupport setup, organization, and optimization of the Battle Jacks online team store, including product listings, descriptions, imagery, pricing, and sizingPrepare merchandise areas for the season, including cleaning, setup, and stocking of itemsGame Day ResponsibilitiesOperate merchandise stands during Battle Jacks home gamesHandle cash and credit card transactions accurately and professionallyAssist with scheduling, oversight, and support of game-day merchandise staffMaintain visual standards and organization of merchandise displaysMonitor online merchandise performance during home stands and assist with fulfillment coordination as neededComplete end-of-homestand inventory reports and share with merchandise leadershipPost-Game ResponsibilitiesAssist with merchandise stand cleanup and organizationSecure merchandise inventory and storage following gamesSupport additional requests from front office or operations staff as neededE-Commerce & Online Store ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of the day-to-day execution of the Battle Jacks online team storeMaintain accurate product listings, inventory levels, and pricingAssist with online order fulfillment, customer service follow-up, and issue resolutionSupport promotional pushes tied to player announcements, theme nights, and special eventsTrack basic online sales performance and identify opportunities to improve product mix and presentationPost-Season ResponsibilitiesCollect remaining merchandise and complete final inventory countsAssist with cleaning and organizing merchandise storage areasDesired Skills and QualificationsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsOrganized, reliable, and detail-orientedComfortable taking initiative and adapting in a fast-paced environmentAbility to stand for extended periods and lift 30–50 lbsPrevious cash handling or retail experience preferred but not requiredInterest in e-commerce, online retail, or digital sales platformsFamiliarity with platforms such as Shopify, Square, or similar is a plus but not requiredComfort working across both physical retail and online sales channelsAdditional Tasks May IncludeGame day setup and breakdownHanging banners and signageAssisting concessions or other departments as neededParticipating in in-stadium entertainment and promotionsField pickup and post-game cleanupOffice and clubhouse organizationFan interaction and engagementDelivery receiving and inventory organizationPower washing and stadium recovery tasksFood prep and player meal supportSpecial events and community activationsMerch modeling, sorting, and display setupCreating or participating in promotional and social media contentCompensation: This internship is structured as an educational and professional development experience.
