Seasonal Grounds Assistant

Title: Grounds AssistantDepartment: Gameday Operations FLSA Status: Non-exempt/Seasonal Part time March-SeptemberReports To: Director, GroundsSummary:Grounds assistants help with preparation and maintenance of the playing field for Omaha Storm Chasers events. Responsibilities:Assist with the maintenance and repair of the playing field including, but is not limited to turf (mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, top-dressing, over-seeding, discovery/control of weeds, insects, and diseases) and dirt (infield skin, baselines, home plate, pitcher’s mound, bullpens, warning track)Assist with the preparation of the playing field for pre-game batting practice by setting up cage, screens, mats, and protective field coversAssist with preparation of the playing field for game use by grooming field, chalking base path foul lines, painting outfield foul lines, marking coaching boxesAssist with maintaining all turf and landscaped areas in and outside the stadium groundsAssist with tarp pulls as directed Knowledge and Skill Requirements:Prior turf maintenance or grounds keeping experience preferredMust be willing to submit to a background screen; any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screenStrong customer service skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment; work with a sense of urgencyAbility to follow oral and written instructionsAbility and willingness to work at least 50% of events at Werner Park, including nights, weekends and holidaysAbility to work outside in all weather conditions including; cold, wind, rain and heatWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
