The 2024 acquisitions of Portland Thorns (NWSL) and the Portland Fire (WNBA) represents a milestone for the city of Portland and places it at the epicenter of growth for women’s sports. THE ROLE: The Sr. skills. WHAT YOU'LL BE UP TO:Strategic Leadership & PlanningDevelop and execute long-term strategies for facilities, security, and IT operations to support organizational goals. Establish policies, standards, and best practices across all areas of responsibility, including Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and Safety Training. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation for operations, ensuring cost efficiency and effectiveness. Facilities ManagementOversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of all facilities, including office spaces, performance centers, and event venues. Drive sustainability initiatives, vendor relationships, and capital improvement projects. Ensure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal safety, regulatory, and environmental standards. Lead all aspects of the mechanical operation of the facility including but not limited to cooling, heating, and associated equipment. Use your expertise in building systems (mechanical, electrical, life safety, etc.) to diagnose and implement the maintenance and repairs for day to day and long-term equipment issues. SecurityLead the development and implementation of comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard personnel, assets, and data. Oversee physical security, access control, emergency preparedness, and crisis response plans. Partner with external agencies and vendors to ensure best-in-class security practices. Information TechnologyProvide strategic oversight of 3rd party IT operations, infrastructure, systems, and support services. Guide digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology platforms. Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement technologies that enhance organizational efficiency, collaboration, and data security. Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead and mentor a high-performing team across facilities, security, and IT functions. Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Partner with People & Culture and Executive Leadership Team on workforce planning, training, and succession strategies. WHAT IT TAKES:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred). SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:Ability to improve and lead a positive, innovative, and encouraging work environment. Perform well in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple priorities simultaneously. Attention to detail, and time management skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Bending, standing, reaching, kneeling, and lifting materials. Operating stadium machinery such as forklifts and scissor lifts (training will be provided). Lifting 50 pounds, working on a ladder or scaffolding, using power tools, and performing other facility maintenance functions. Ability to work in variable temperatures, including extreme hot and cold weather based on the season. Must be able to work in confined/narrow spaces. Walking throughout the facility and campus, sometimes for an extended period and, at times, in inclement weather. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in all areas of the facility both inside and outside. At times it may include inclement weather working conditions. The job includes some work in an office environment as well.
