Job Description
ABOUT THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUEFounded in 1917, the National Hockey League (NHL®) is the premier professional ice hockey league in the world and is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze League and Club fan (BLADE) data to identify trends, behavioral patterns, and growth opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge Areas/ExperienceRequiredThe ideal candidate will, at minimum, have a degree in a relevant area from a four-year college or university5-7 years of work experience data strategy or analytics, or business intelligence role, preferably within a major professional/collegiate sports team or league (NHL, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NCAA), but industry experience is not requiredProven experience leading high‑visibility analytics initiatives that supported executive or C‑suite stakeholdersStrong technical proficiency including: Advanced Tableau skills, including dashboard development and visualization best practicesStrong Excel and PowerPoint skillsIntermediate‑to‑advanced SQL proficiencyExperience with Python or R preferred (for statistical modeling, automation, or data manipulation)Familiarity with fan data platforms, CRM systems, or ticketing data ecosystems a plusRequired SkillsExceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skillsAbility to distill complex data into simple, actionable insights for senior leadershipStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and build trusted partnershipsHigh attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyProactive, adaptable, and motivated to independently acquire and absorb knowledge, skills, and emerging techniques and technologiesAbility to maintain discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling sensitive informationAbility to travel periodically (domestic and international) and work non-standard hours as neededCORE COMPETENCIESThese core competencies reflect the underlying values that are necessary to represent the National Hockey League:AccountabilityAdaptability Communication Critical ThinkingInclusionProfessionalismTeamwork & CollaborationThe NHL offers U.
