Mascot Performer (Immediate Need)

POSITION OVERVIEWDo you have the energy to entertain a ballpark without saying a word? experience, a familiar face in the community, a favorite with kids and families and an important part of the Washington Wild Things brand. We are looking for someone who can bring the character to life with personality, humor, movement, and plenty of energy. From entertaining fans between innings to surprising kids in the stands, dancing on the dugout, appearing in social media content, or representing the team at a community event, no two appearances will be exactly the same. The right performer will be confident in front of a crowd, comfortable thinking on their feet, and able to create memorable interactions with fans of every age. WHAT YOU’LL DOBring Wild Thing to Life• Perform as Wild Thing during Washington Wild Things home games at EQT Park.• Create a fun and recognizable personality through movement, gestures, dancing, physical comedy and improvisation.• Make your way throughout the ballpark interacting with fans, posing for photos, giving high-fives, celebrating big moments and creating unexpected moments of fun.• Take part in pregame activities, between-inning entertainment, contests, promotions, special presentations and postgame activities.• Work from a game-day schedule while also recognizing opportunities for spontaneous fan interaction.• Keep Wild Thing’s personality consistent, positive, family-friendly, and entertaining at every appearance.• Help make birthdays, group outings, theme nights, Kids Club activities, and other special occasions memorable for our guests. Take Wild Thing Into the CommunityWild Thing doesn’t stay at the ballpark. The performer will represent the Washington Wild Things at appearances throughout the region, which may include schools and youth programs, community festivals, parades, youth sporting events, charitable and non-profit events, sponsor and partner appearances, corporate events and more. At every appearance, the performer is expected to represent the Washington Wild Things in a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic manner. Help Us Create Great ContentWild Thing is also an important part of the team’s digital personality. The performer may work with the Marketing and Social Media teams to:• Appear in photos, videos, reels, commercials, and promotional content.• Develop funny, timely, and shareable mascot ideas.• Participate in content surrounding holidays, trends, theme nights, promotions, and community events.• Brainstorm new routines, celebrations, signature moves, and recurring Wild Thing moments.• Help create entertaining ways to introduce Wild Thing to new audiences both inside and outside EQT Park. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORYou don’t necessarily need previous mascot experience. experience in any of the following areas is helpful, but not required:• Mascot performance• Acting or theater• Dance• Cheerleading• Athletics• Comedy or improvisation• Live entertainment• Professional or collegiate sports• Minor League Baseball• Promotions or event entertainment• Youth programs, camps, or schools• Social media or video contentMost importantly, we’re looking for someone who understands how to have fun with an audience and make people smile. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPerforming as Wild Thing is an active role. Candidates must be able to safely perform while wearing a full mascot costume, which may involve limited visibility and increased temperatures inside the costume. The position may include extended periods of standing and walking, animated movement, climbing stairs, performing outdoors, working in warm temperatures and navigating crowds and busy spaces. Performers are expected to follow all team safety guidelines and communicate immediately with staff if a costume, environmental, or physical condition creates a safety concern. TAKING CARE OF WILD THINGThe performer plays an important role in keeping the Wild Thing costume game-ready. Responsibilities include properly handling, wearing, transporting, and storing the costume and its accessories; following established cleaning and hygiene procedures; and promptly reporting any damage, wear, or repair needs. Wild Thing should look his best every time he meets a fan. SCHEDULEThis is an event-based position with hours that will vary depending on the Washington Wild Things home schedule and community appearance calendar. Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and summer events is important. In addition to home games at EQT Park, performers may be scheduled for appearances throughout Washington County and the greater Pittsburgh region.
