    Job Description

Duties:Manages the medical program for assigned P3R events and assists with medical planning for assigned client events. Works with the SVP of Operations, Medical Board, medical directors, UPMC medical partners, and operational teams to plan, coordinate, and execute medical operations for assigned P3R events. Supports the development, implementation, and ongoing review of comprehensive medical plans, including medical tents, aid stations, EMS/ambulance services, transportation, communications, and emergency response resources. Coordinates the recruitment, communication, orientation, and assignment of medical volunteers, Aid Station Managers, Red Cross volunteers, and other medical event personnel. Works with the Red Cross Coordinator to coordinate volunteer assignments and support services, including hospital liaisons, SAG bus support, Lost Runner Services, and other designated medical support areas. Coordinates medical staffing, equipment, technology, supplies, and logistical needs to ensure medical operations are properly prepared and event-ready. Works with the Equipment Manager and appropriate vendors to determine, order, organize, distribute, and maintain medical equipment and supplies, including AEDs, I-STATs and related supplies, medical kits, massage equipment, and other specialized medical resources. Coordinates the preparation, distribution, assignment, and recovery of medical technology and equipment used during events, including iPads, MiFi devices, radios, AEDs, and other medical response equipment as needed. Supports the implementation and operation of medical technology and patient tracking systems (EMOS), including reviewing, updating, and preparing systems and devices for event use. Works with the SVP of Operations to coordinate EMS and ambulance support for P3R events and assists with the distribution and communication of EMS materials, routes, maps, and other event-specific information. Oversees the infrastructure and operational readiness of aid stations, medical tents, and other designated medical support areas, including staffing, equipment, supplies, credentials, communications, and related logistical needs. Coordinates medical volunteer apparel, credentials, vests, course passes, medical bins, and other materials required for event personnel. Supports race-weekend medical operations, including event setup and shutdown, volunteer check-in and coordination, medical tent operations, equipment distribution, and post-event collection and recovery of medical equipment and supplies. Tracks data and historical race information to assist in planning for anticipated medical utilization, staffing, equipment, and supply needs. Works with assigned clients, medical partners, and vendors to determine and fulfill event-specific medical requirements. Provides support and information to medical volunteers and Aid Station Managers, including medical guides, instructional materials, training information, and event communications. Maintains current knowledge of medical event operations, point-of-care medical devices, and emerging practices relevant to mass sporting events. Attends Medical Board meetings and participates in the Safety Committee, providing medical recommendations and supporting safety-related initiatives. Coordinates food, beverage and other operational needs for medical personnel during marathon race weekend. Assists with post-event equipment recovery, inventory, and return or shipment of medical equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.
