ABOUT THE NORTHERN TEXAS PGAThe Northern Texas PGA is one of 41 sections of The PGA of America and has a membership of more than 1,200 PGA of America Golf Professionals. The Northern Texas PGA's objective is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. The PGA of America, the Northern Texas PGA, and its member golf professionals are recognized as the leaders in the world of golf today. WHY THIS INTERNSHIPThis internship provides aspiring future golf industry professionals with hands-on experience in Section operations and junior golf programming. experience, interns will learn how a PGA Section supports the game at the local level while building meaningful connections across the golf industry. The Spring 2027 internship also offers a unique opportunity to gain experience and assist with the 2027 PGA Championship from May 15 - May 24 at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco. responsibilitiesTOURNAMENT TRAVELTournaments will be located throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and extensive travel around DFW is required. Interns will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all tournaments and to and from the Northern Texas PGA office. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEInterns will be responsible for helping conduct approximately 25-30 Junior Tour tournaments. These tournaments will include formats such as two-day, 36-hole stroke play elite competitions, and single-day, 18-hole, and 9-hole stroke play competitions. Interns will be responsible for conducting these events from start to finish. On average, Spring Interns can expect to work Saturdays and Sundays, approximately 10-18 hours, on most weekends. requirements for obtaining school credit. QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATEPreferred: Basic knowledge of the game and rules of golfInterest in a career in golf or sports administrationRequired: Has or is pursuing a college degree (third or fourth-year students preferred)Has automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the Dallas/Fort Worth MetroplexHas existing insurance (through school or parents)Exhibits ability to work and communicate effectively in a team-based environment General computer literacy (i. Requirements: Ability to work early morningsAbility to work outside in extreme weather and temperaturesAbility to lift objects up to 50 pounds, i.e. tents, tables, stakes, and championship signage Ability to safely operate a golf cartAbility to stand and move around on foot for extended periods of timeAbility to speak publicly Effectively able to use and operate cell phones, tablets, and hand-held radios Preferred: Basic knowledge of the game and rules of golfInterest in a career in golf or sports administration COMPENSATIONInterns are compensated at a rate of $11.00 per hour (before taxes) NTPGA staff uniforms, including golf shirts and hats, will be providedSchool credit (if applicable) HOUSINGThe Northern Texas PGA does not provide housing of any kind, but will be more than happy to assist with the location of housing for those unfamiliar with the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Past interns have utilized corporate housing agencies for fully furnished apartment leases, secured house leases through Airbnb, or utilized extended-stay hotels. Those with family or friends in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are welcome to stay there and are in no way obligated to live with other interns.
