OverviewSharks Ice at San Jose is seeking a highly skilled, dependable, and hands-on Mechanic to support one of the largest and busiest ice rink facilities in the country.
Responsibilities:Perform safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of ice resurfacers, ice edgers, chippers, and related arena equipmentConduct and document routine preventative maintenance, including blade changes, oil changes, lubrication, and scheduled serviceDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, propane, electrical, and control system issuesExecute major and emergency repairs efficiently to minimize downtimeRespond to urgent equipment issues during off-hours as needed to support operationsMaintain parts inventory and orders critical parts & suppliesProvide initial and ongoing training for Ice Technicians on equipment operation, safety, and standard operating proceduresEstablish and maintain clear communication across Ice Technicians, Supervisors, and ManagementWork closely with management to develop action plans and ensure consistent execution of SOPsServe as Building Supervisor while on duty when required, supporting overall facility and event operationsDeliver professional, solutions-based service at all timesAssist with general facility maintenance and arena upkeep as neededEnsure compliance with safety policies, emergency procedures, and evacuation protocolsAnticipate mechanical issues and proactively recommend solutionsPerform additional duties as assigned to support rink operationsQualificationsValid California Driver's License3–5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience (industrial, heavy equipment, fleet, or facility maintenance preferred)Strong working knowledge of:Internal combustion engines (propane preferred)HydraulicsElectrical systems and diagnosticsAbility to troubleshoot independently and work effectively under pressureStrong communication skills and a team-first mindsetCertified Ice Technician (CIT) – US Rink Association (Preferred)Experience operating heavy equipment or warehouse machinery (Preferred)Physical RequirementsAbility to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 60 lbs with or without accommodationAbility to stand, walk, and work on concrete and ice surfaces for extended periods with or without accommodationAbility to crawl, reach and lay under ice resurfaces or other essential equipment with or without accommodationComfortable working in cold environmentsFlexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by rink operations (all with advance notice)May be required to travel to other company locations What We OfferCompetitive compensationMedical/Dental/Vision/Flexible Spending Accounts (all LGBTQ+ friendly)Pretax Transportation Benefit401K (pre-tax and Roth options)Generous Paid Time Off PolicyMinimum of 10 Paid Holidays and Wellness Days per yearAn inclusive culture which values diversity of background and a passion to improve our SSE's commitment to change with impact on our community and industry.
