OverviewThe Battle Creek Battle Jacks of the Northwoods League are seeking a competitive, detail-driven Pitching Coach for the 2026 season. This role is ideal for a coach who thrives on daily preparation, embraces the grind of a long summer schedule, and is committed to developing collegiate arms in a high-performance environment.
We are looking for a coach who brings professionalism, energy, and a blue-collar mentality to the ballpark every day. The ideal candidate values accountability, player development, and building a pitching staff that competes with toughness and discipline. Key ResponsibilitiesPitching DevelopmentLead all daily pitching instruction including bullpen sessions, mechanical work, pitch design, command development, and recovery routines.
Develop and implement individualized throwing programs and performance plans for pitchers.
Monitor workload, pitch counts, recovery, and durability throughout the season.
Utilize video and performance analysis to track development and provide feedback.
Game Preparation & ManagementAssist with scouting opposing hitters and preparing advance reports.
Manage pitching rotations, bullpen usage, and in-game pitching strategy in collaboration with the Head Coach.
Oversee pre-game and post-game arm care routines.
Recruiting & CommunicationAssist with recruiting efforts by evaluating and recommending pitchers in coordination with baseball leadership.
Maintain professional communication with college coaches regarding player usage and development.
Team & Operations SupportSupport player supervision, travel logistics, housing coordination, and general team operations as needed.
Maintain a professional clubhouse culture aligned with team values and Northwoods League standards.
Community & Fan EngagementParticipate in youth clinics, camps, sponsor events, and promotional appearances as a representative of the Battle Jacks.
Engage positively with fans, including signing autographs and representing the organization professionally at all times.
QualificationsRecent coaching experience at the collegiate and/or summer collegiate level.
College playing experience.
Strong knowledge of modern pitching development, workload management, and arm care best practices.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with collegiate student-athletes.
High-energy, professional presence throughout the demanding Northwoods League schedule.
Must be fully committed for the entire summer season.
Hiring Process & ComplianceSelected candidates will participate in interviews with members of the Battle Jacks coaching staff and baseball leadership.
Final candidates will be required to successfully complete background screening and SafeSport training prior to the start of the season.
Employment is contingent upon meeting all Northwoods League, team, and applicable compliance requirements.
Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.
Housing provided for the duration of the season.
Team-issued gear and travel expenses covered.
