Job Description
Frontwave Arena and the Oceanside Shock are seeking four reliable, energetic, and team-oriented individuals to join our game-day ice operations team as Ice Shovelers.
Ice Shovelers play an important role in maintaining the quality and safety of the playing surface during Oceanside Shock hockey games and events. This position is responsible for quickly and efficiently clearing snow and debris from the ice during stoppages in play while supporting the overall game-day operations team.
Must be able to skate confidently and safely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESSkate onto the ice during designated stoppages in play to remove excess snow and debris.
Efficiently shovel and clear snow from the ice surface using proper techniques.
Maintain awareness of players, officials, equipment, and other personnel while on the ice.
Follow directions from the Ice Operations and Game Operations teams.
Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and game-ready ice surface.
Arrive on time and be fully prepared for assigned games and events.
Maintain a professional and positive attitude while representing Frontwave Arena and the Oceanside Shock.
Assist with other game-day ice and arena operations as needed.
Follow all arena safety procedures, policies, and instructions.
Work effectively as part of a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMust be able to skate confidently and safely.
Comfortable skating on a hockey rink and maneuvering around the ice.
Must be physically capable of repeatedly shoveling and moving snow during games.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to safety.
Ability to take direction and work well with a team.
Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
Previous hockey, skating, rink, or arena experience is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to skate for extended periods during game-day assignments.
Ability to repeatedly bend, lift, push, pull, and shovel snow.
Ability to work in a cold environment for extended periods.
Ability to remain on your feet and physically active throughout a shift.
Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed.
