POSITION OVERVIEW:The Production Manager serves as a senior operational leader responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all technical and production-related aspects of concerts, theatrical performances, comedy events, community and special engagements within and associated with the venue. This role oversees advancing, staffing, logistics, and onsite execution for a high-volume event calendar while ensuring productions are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and at the highest professional standard.
Working closely with the General Manager, booking team, operations leadership, IATSE stagehands, touring personnel, and venue department heads, the Production Manager acts as the primary point of contact for all event production matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED, TO THE BELOW:Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of all production operations for concerts, theatrical performances, comedy shows, community and special eventsAdvance all incoming event details and logistics with internal stakeholders, touring production managers, and community event partners, and when necessary, communicate with agents, promoters, and artist representatives, to ensure accurate execution of technical and financial requirementsOversee event production logistics including:o Stage operations and managemento Audio, lighting, and video coordinationo Rigging and stagehand laboro Backline and equipment needso Loading dock scheduling, parking permits and truck logisticsDevelop and manage production schedules, labor calls, and staffing plans to support efficient event execution, utilizing a cloud portal to list, update and share these detailsSupervise and coordinate union stagehands, technical crews, and event production staffServe as the primary onsite production representative during load-ins, performances, and load-outsCollaborate closely with booking, operations, security, ticketing, and facilities, teams to ensure seamless cross-departmental event executionEnsure compliance with all permitting and venue safety standards, OSHA regulations, fire code requirements, and applicable union agreementsWork closely with Finance and event management teams to prepare and reconcile production-related settlements, labor costs, and event expensesAssist with budgeting and forecasting for production operations, equipment needs, and staffing expensesOversee the maintenance of venue production equipment and coordinate repairs, regularly-scheduled maintenance, and recommend capital improvement as neededBuild and maintain strong working relationships with touring personnel, promoters, vendors, relevant city agencies, community and production partnersRecruit, train, mentor, and evaluate production staff to maintain a professional, efficient, and service-oriented production environmentTroubleshoot technical and operational issues in real time while maintaining composure in a fast-paced live event settingOther duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS:5-7+ years of live event production experience, preferably in a major theatre, concert venue, arena, touring production or performing arts facility, touring production experience a plusDemonstrated experience advancing and managing concerts, theatrical productions, and large-scale live eventsStrong knowledge of live audio, lighting, video, staging, rigging, and backstage operationsExperience supervising production crews, stagehands, and technical staff in high-volume event environmentsFamiliarity with union labor environments and collective bargaining agreements preferredStrong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to manage advance and/or execution of multiple events simultaneouslyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with artists, promoters, agents, touring personnel, vendors, community contacts and internal departmentsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and event production or scheduling softwareAbility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedulesAbility to remain calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced live entertainment environment WORKING CONDITIONS:Travel Requirements: May travel up to 5% during the yearPhysical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in active backstage and production environmentsWork Environment: This position requires work to be performed onsite at the theatre in Jersey City, NJ and/or the Prudential Center/New Jersey Devils offices in Newark, NJ.
Attendance at events taking place in the theatre or meetings offsite, including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and/or holidays may be required as an essential job function COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $95,000 and $115,000/year.
